Preparation

• Protect anodized aluminum, glass and painted substrates.
• Cover foliage with polyethylene or other proven protective material.
• Avoid wind drift on surrounding surfaces such as auto and pedestrian traffic.

Surface & Air Temperatures

• Excessively high or low temperatures will produce poor results and possible harm.
• Best cleaning results are obtained when air and surface temperatures are 40° Fahrenheit or above.
• Do not clean when temperatures are below freezing or will be overnight. If freezing conditions exist, allow adequate time for surface to thaw.
• If air temperatures exceed 90° Fahrenheit, flash cool the surface with water before applying product.
• Do not allow products to dry on the surface. Always rinse thoroughly while still wet.

Pretesting

• Always test prior to beginning full-scale cleaning operations.
• Testing should confirm cleaning effectiveness on each type of surface and stain designated to be cleaned.
• Test also to determine the desired surface contact time and any potential for adverse reactions with adjacent materials.
• Allow test panels to dry thoroughly before evaluating final appearance and results.
• Great care must be taken when applying this product because of its highly active penetrating nature.

How to dilute Smoke Melt?

• 4:1 - 9:1 for severe smoke damage.
• 15:1 for light smoke damage.
• Use undiluted - 10:1 for brushing application and oil stain removal.

Application Instructions

• Always protect the surrounding area by temporarily covering with plastic.
• If you are spraying this product always try to stay away from or above the mist, as it will burn your skin.
• Pre-wet (not soak), the area with water before applying the product.
• A nylon brush can be used to apply, when necessary.
• With a strong dilution, apply downstream through a pressure washer for severe smoke damage.
• With a weaker dilution, apply with a low pressure applicator for light smoke damage.
• For black crust removal, use undiluted.
• Let the product dwell for fifteen minutes to an hour.
• When removing smoke damage, use a higher dilution based on testing results.
• Allow the product lengthy dwell time, as Smoke Melt has special additives that causes soils to rise to the surface.
• Craftsmanship determines the appropriate pressures for rinsing.
• A thorough rinse job is always recommended, however, our chemistry never requires flooding a wall.
• Pressures that mark or damage the surface should be avoided.
• When in doubt, follow the manufacturers recommended P.S.I. for the substrate on which you are working.
